Harmer  Hill and District W.I. June 2009.

The June meeting was held in Myddle Village Hall with president Chris Williams in the chair. This was the last occasion for the institute's meeting to be held in Myddle Village Hall since the usual venue of Harmer Hill Village Hall will be available for the July meeting, after major refurbishment. The president took the opportunity to thank Myddle Village Hall committee for their hospitality during the past months. Now that there are several members who live in Myddle on the institute's committee it was decided that the monthly committee meeting should continue to be held in Myddle Village Hall.

The Shropshire County Federation is celebrating its 90th. anniversary this year and four of our members had attended an event at the new football stadium.  It was an excellent day with a flower arrangement demonstration by Howard Franklin, a buffet lunch and a fashion show by Marks and Spencer. The National Federation of W.I. has recently also held its A.G.M. at the Albert Hall attended by members from all over the country. The resolution on the world wide crisis in bee population was carried by a very large majority.

Members are continuing to support the Kenyan School Project in conjunction with the Thomas Adams School whose initiative this is, under the direction of Dave Queen, a member of staff.  We are supplying useful items such as

toiletries and clothing.

The speaker for the evening was Mrs. Anne Cummings, a graphologist, who undertakes work with individuals as well as agencies such as Social Services and the Police.  She
